A one-line answer for each
If you only read one thing on this page.
Tally
Stay if your team is fast on it and you never need remote access. Move if you want cloud, mobile, multi-branch or WhatsApp invoicing.
Zoho Books
Stay if you are services-only and under its free threshold. Move when stock, imports, POS or production start living in spreadsheets.
Odoo
Stay if you need deep customisation and have budget for an implementation project. Move if the implementation quote is the problem.
QuickBooks
Stay for pure accounting on a services business. Move if you are a trading company propping it up with an inventory spreadsheet.
Sage 50 / Peachtree
Stay while it works and nothing is forcing your hand. Move before the machine, the person or the compliance deadline forces it for you.
FAQ
Choosing UAE accounting or ERP software
Which accounting or ERP software is best for a UAE small business?
It depends on what sits around the accounting. For a services business with no stock, Zoho Books or QuickBooks Online is usually enough and often cheaper. For a trading, retail or manufacturing business that needs inventory, imports, a counter or production on the same ledger, a full ERP is the better fit — that is where AmalERP is aimed, from AED 99/month. For deeply customised workflows with budget for an implementation project, Odoo remains the strongest option.
Are these comparisons impartial?
They are written by AmalERP, so treat them as informed rather than neutral — but every page includes a section on where the competitor is genuinely the better choice, and we have tried not to claim a competitor lacks something it has. Competitor prices are shown as publicly listed and dated. Where we do not have a feature, such as direct VAT filing to EmaraTax or live PINT AE e-invoicing, the pages say so.
Does the July 2027 e-invoicing mandate affect which software I choose?
It affects the timing more than the choice. All UAE businesses come into scope by 1 July 2027 and will need to issue structured PINT AE invoices through an Accredited Service Provider. Every serious vendor is working on this, so the sensible question to ask each of them is not whether they support it, but on what date, and whether it is included in your plan.
How hard is it to switch accounting systems mid-year?
Less painful than most owners expect, because the standard approach is to bring across master data and opening balances rather than full transaction history — the old system stays available for reference. The genuinely hard part is not the data, it is the habit change for the people entering it, which is why a parallel week is worth running before you switch off the old system.
